The “Walk-Like-A-Zombie” Acting Workshop
Every Zombie Walk Begins with one step…

The free “Walk-Like-A-Zombie” workshop has been offered each year since the very first ZOMBICON in 2007. Open to the public, this class, taught by professional actors, gives non-actors of all ages, some instruction in basic theatrical techniques. Past curriculum has included “Zombie Expressions”, an exploration of the “vacant stare”, and  the “Zombie Physicality Workshop”, which focused on the art of the “zombie walk”.

This years workshop will be held at The Florida Repertory Theater Actor’s Studio (2267 First Street, Fort Myers, 33901) on October 15th from 4:30 until 6:00 PM. It will taught by veteran actor Adams Jones, who was recently seen in The Rep’s production of “King of the Moon”. The class will begin with a brief explanation of the various kinds of zombies and their “motivation”, and a few words about what it means to get into, and stay “in character”.

Following demonstrations by the staff, students will practice a variety of methods to help them unleash their “inner zombie”. Members of The ZOMBICON Security Team (The Goon Squad), will be on hand, for interactive zombie combat training. Upon completion, all graduates will put their skills directly into practice, at the 6:00 zombie walk which “kicks off” the event.

Zombies will assemble inside The Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center, then walk out the doors and down the stairs, recreating the opening scene from George Romero’s “Day of The Dead”, which was filmed on location there in 1983. After a tour of downtown, the Zombies will return to The SBDAC to “crash” the wedding of James & Alex, a ZOMBICON first.
