Pushing Daizies, Inc. (PDI), is a non-profit organization which uses artistic means in order to benefit the local community and make charitable contributions to local and state organizations. Through it’s signature event ZOMBICON, PDI has helped The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, The Lee Memorial Blood Center and The ArtHouse Foundation Inc.

We encourage travel to Fort Myers by promoting it as an International Zombie Tourist Destination. By sharing information about Fort Myers’ own Zombie History, we continue to attract tourists to the area in growing numbers.

Since the first year, we have given local artists the opportunity to exhibit their work, sometimes alongside internationally recognized artists, in our annual “Dark Art Show“. Our free “Walk-Like-A-Zombie” acting workshop, has provided interested people of all ages the opportunity to learn basic acting techniques from local professionals. Directly following the workshops, they have put their lessons into practice during our “Zombie Walk”, a free interactive theatrical experience, performed for the public.

Perhaps our greatest contribution is through inspiring our local community to express itself creatively. By participating in our unique brand of street theater, patrons are inspired to create make-up, costumes, and transform themselves into their own personal performance piece.

CHARITY INVOLVEMENT
Since 2008, we have collected non-perishable canned food donations for our local Harry Chapin Food Bank. In 2009, we set a local record for the most food collected at a single nighttime event, with nearly half a ton of food.

For the past 3 years we have worked together with The Lee Memorial Blood Center.
By using our promotions to draw attention to their needs, and providing them with opportunities to bring the Blood Mobile, we have enabled them to collect significant donations of blood. This year we have added The P.O.L.O. Club of Lee County to our list of charitable partners.

Our long term goals include funding art education through scholarships.
Pushing Daizies, Inc. encourages others to help those in need whether it is a pint of blood or a can of food, and provides a free theatrical outlet for self-expression.
